Level 3 Critical Environment Technician (Electrical) is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting mission-critical electrical infrastructure in a data center environment to ensure
safe, continuous uptime. This role performs advanced electrical monitoring and maintenance, supports planned work and maintenance windows, responds to abnormal conditions using
Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs), and partners with vendors/contractors to execute work safely and according to site standards.
Key Responsibilities (Electrical - Level 3)Operations, Monitoring & Documentation- Perform routine operational rounds/log taking of electrical equipment (e.g., temperatures, voltages, currents) and document findings accurately.
- Monitor performance of critical infrastructure systems and escalate risk conditions appropriately
- Use EPMS/BMS tools to track alarms, trends, and system performance.
Planned Work / Maintenance Execution- Follow SOPs for planned work in critical environments and support maintenance windows with strong procedural discipline.
- Support electrical infrastructure across a campus (single large facility to multiple smaller sites).
- Execute/support controlled electrical activities such as:
- Energizing cabinets in colocation/critical spaces
- RPP shutdown of one source while maintaining critical load on "N"
- PDU shutdown for meter replacement/support activities
- Power Interruption Testing (PIT) support
- Master controller shutdown/replacement support UPS / Batteries / Controls
- Perform and/or support quarterly and annual UPS preventative maintenance, and maintenance for system control panels and batteries.
Troubleshooting & Response- Assist in troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and calibration of instrument sensors and related monitoring devices
- Respond to abnormal conditions using EOPs, supporting safe incident stabilization and restoration of normal operations.
Safety, Compliance & Site Discipline- Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures and physical security policies while performing all work.
- Apply a fundamental understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) in troubleshooting and safe work practices.
- Vendor / Contractor Support
- Provide escort support and oversight for third-party contractors, vendors, and service providers on-site as required.
Level 3 Expectation Works with minimal supervision, is a technical escalation point for complex electrical issues, and helps drive procedural excellence and safe execution across shifts
Required Qualifications- 5+ years work/applied learning experience in a technical field (e.g., electrical, controls, automotive, data center).
- Experience with electrical systems in high-availability / critical infrastructure environments (e.g., data centers, refineries, hospitals, pharma, manufacturing).
- OSHA or OSHA-approved NFPA 70E credential required.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Ability to work flexible schedules (including 12-hour shifts, rotating shifts, and 3-5 day work weeks
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
Preferred Qualifications- Prior data center experience.
- Experience with EPMS/BMS monitoring platforms
- UPS/battery PM depth and familiarity with major OEM platforms
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements- Work is performed in a mission-critical data center environment with strict safety and security requirements.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods during rounds and respond to incidents as needed
- Ability to use PPE and follow energized electrical work practices as applicable.
Shift: Sun-Tues with every other WED 12 hr shifts alternating 36/48 work weeks
Pay rate will vary based on qualifications, experience, and certifications ranging from $52-$60/Hr
