Network Administrator

Location: Foster City, California (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract

Role Overview

This position is essential for managing the lifecycle of telecommunications services. The Network Administrator will ensure the delivery of robust and timely network connectivity as the organization expands. This role serves as a primary liaison between internal teams and external telecommunications providers, playing an instrumental part in deploying connectivity to new locations while supporting the Network Engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive the end-to-end process for all data service orders, including Move, Add, Change, Disconnect (MACD) for services like Broadband/DIA, Fiber, EPL, and WISP.
  • Identify new circuit requirements and manage the complete ordering process with carriers.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for telecom carriers, responsible for submitting order packages, scheduling installations, and resolving service issues to meet deadlines.
  • Oversee the technical activation and turn-up of new circuits and associated equipment, ensuring adherence to project requirements and technical standards.
  • Configure and maintain network devices, including routers, switches, and firewalls, to interface with external telecom circuits.
  • Diagnose and resolve circuit-level issues, particularly during testing and activation phases.
  • Collaborate with the Network Engineering team on project rollouts and daily operational support.
  • Maintain a comprehensive and accurate inventory of all active circuits, documenting details such as IDs, locations, costs, and contract dates.
Required Qualifications

Education: Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in IT or Computer Science.

Experience: 3+ years of experience in a similar role. Proven ability to manage vendor and carrier relationships to meet project deadlines is required.

Technical Skills: Deep functional knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF). Knowledge of diverse telecom standards and circuit types (Fiber, EPL, Wave, DF, Broadband, DIA) is necessary. Exceptional attention to detail is essential.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA or Network+.
