Embedded Systems Engineer | Whitehall, MI

Salary Range: $80,000 - $125,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Whitehall that are seeking Embedded Systems Engineers. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test embedded software for manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and debug existing embedded systems to resolve production issues.
• Implement and maintain firmware for industrial control systems.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate embedded systems into new products.
• Optimize performance and reliability of embedded systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Develop and execute test plans for validating embedded software and hardware.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in embedded software development for manufacturing environments.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems, with strong debugging and testing skills.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) like FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherCAT, PROFINET).
• Hands-on experience with microcontroller architectures (e.g., ARM Cortex-M) and their peripherals.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) beyond basic microcontroller environments.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherCAT, PROFINET).
• Proficiency in Python for test automation, scripting, or data analysis.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for embedded systems.
• Experience with version control systems beyond Git (e.g., SVN, Perforce) common in legacy manufacturing environments.
