Role Overview
We are seeking a Field Engineer to support customer data centers by resolving hardware and infrastructure issues. This role requires hands-on experience with enterprise-level systems and a strong understanding of data center operations. For someone based out of Cincinnati, travel to support locations such as Indianapolis, Louisville, Dayton, and Columbus will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues within IT infrastructure, including enterprise systems, servers, storage, and networking.
- Perform rack and stack, hardware installations, disk drive and memory replacements, and hot swaps.
- Utilize software tools for daily operations and troubleshooting in a data center environment.
- Provide client-facing support with professionalism and technical expertise.
- Collaborate with team members during a 45-90 day training period; you will not be expected to work solo during this time.
- Work overtime and weekends with advance notice for installation or rack/stack events.
- Document daily activities and maintain communication with management and peers.
Required Qualifications
Experience:- 2-3 years of hands-on experience with servers, cables, racks, workstations, routers/switches, and network infrastructure.
- Must have a valid driver's license, car insurance, and reliable transportation. Travel is required up to 75% within a 300-mile radius weekly. Mileage, tolls, and parking will be reimbursed.
Technical Skills:- Basic understanding of storage theory, server layout, and network concepts.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to follow procedures for component-level repairs using ESD best practices.
- Familiarity with using different computer applications and software tools.
- Ability to operate manual and power hand tools and lift up to 40 lbs.
Professional Skills:- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong client-facing and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in data center environments is highly preferred.
- CompTIA+ certification is a plus.
- Experience with pallet jacks and data center server lifting tools.
- Linux, Virtualization, and Windows Server experience is a plus.
