Summary

Role Summary
The Field Electrical Engineer provides dedicated on-site execution and integration support for electrical construction activities, with a primary focus on ensuring electrical readiness during the construction phase. This role serves as the owner’s on-site electrical representative, partnering with construction management, inspectors, and contractors to manage field interfaces, resolve electrical issues, and support power transition activities. The position is not a design role; it emphasizes practical field troubleshooting, NEC compliance, and accurate documentation through installation and turnover. The scope includes electrical systems for a large compressor station environment with constrained utility power and interim power bridge or on-site generation solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily field oversight to ensure electrical installation activities align with IFC drawings, approved one-lines and schematics, vendor documentation, project electrical standards, and NEC requirements
  • Verify electrical installations in the field, including routing, clearances, access, grounding, bonding, and equipment placement
  • Act as the primary focal point for electrical RFIs, field questions, and technical clarifications to keep work aligned with drawings and specifications
  • Collect and deliver field data (photos, dimensions, and site conditions) needed to support engineering resolution
  • Track RFIs through response and implementation to closure, escalating issues that create safety, code, cost, or schedule risk
  • Support electrical scope in compressor buildings and E-houses, including switchgear, MCCs, grounding systems, lighting, and auxiliary systems
  • Support installation and electrical integration of EMD-related scope, including cable tray routing and support, power and control cable terminations, and interface coordination
  • Provide field support for temporary or interim power bridge and on-site generation systems, including tie-ins, grounding, integration, and staged energization readiness
  • Maintain working NEC and electrical safety knowledge to verify grounding/bonding, labeling/clearances, conductor installation, temporary power, generator connections, and applicable surge protection
  • Maintain accurate electrical redlines/as-builts and support electrical job books, test and inspection records, punch lists, commissioning documentation, and turnover deliverables

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and hands-on electrical construction experience
  • Strong electrical construction support experience in industrial or energy facilities
  • Demonstrated experience supporting EMD or large rotating equipment electrical installations
  • Demonstrated experience with on-site power generation or temporary power systems
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) with the ability to apply requirements practically in the field
  • Experience managing RFIs, redlines, punch lists, and turnover documentation
  • Ability to work full-time on a construction site and communicate effectively with contractors and project leadership
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in real time within a construction environment
  • Familiarity with interface management across generators, switchgear, MCCs, and protection systems is preferred
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety practices and readiness for energization support
