Data Center Technical Operations Engineer - Facility

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Technical Operations Engineer to support mission-critical facility operations. This role oversees maintenance, safety, vendor coordination, and performance optimization across all critical infrastructure systems. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, demonstrates strong leadership ability, and is committed to operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee shift technicians, lead technicians, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring all work meets established standards and safety procedures.
• Monitor, operate, and maintain critical infrastructure systems, including:
  • Switchgear
  • Generators
  • UPS systems
  • Power distribution units
  • Chillers and cooling towers
  • CRAH/CRAC units
  • Building automation and monitoring systems
• Establish metrics and benchmarks for facility operations, preparing detailed performance and efficiency reports.
• Partner with IT and business leadership to manage capacity, coordinate projects, and maintain system reliability.
• Support build-out and commissioning of new data center facilities when needed.
• Participate in initiatives that improve facility performance, efficiency, and resiliency.
• Manage inventory and critical assets across the facility.
• Assist with recruiting and onboarding new technical staff.
• Ensure high-quality service delivery and timely response to operational needs.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Technical/Military/Trade School Degree with relevant experience.
• 2-4 years of relevant technical experience.
• 2-4 years of leadership or management experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize and operate effectively in a fast-paced, complex environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2-4 years of data center engineering experience.
• 2-4 years of data center management experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Working knowledge of network design, infrastructure layouts, and low-voltage copper/fiber cabling.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
