Responsibilities
Description of Services:
The Software QA Engineer performs advanced and/or supervisory computer systems analysis and team lead work, administering the daily operations and activities of testing teams within the Quality Assurance (QA) section of IT(Information Technology). Work involves planning, budgeting, and analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems.
This position will work with the Multi-App development team to provide the following Software Testing Services:
- Analyze user requirements, user stories, design specifications and technical documentation to develop comprehensive manual and automated test cases.
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test suites. Document test execution results, defects, test coverage, and testing summaries with detailed reporting.
- Perform manual testing, exploratory testing, and data validation activities to ensure application functionality, data accuracy, and overall product quality.
- Use Playwright to design, develop and execute automated test for functional, regression testing while leverage AI tools and technologies to improve test efficiency, generate test estimate, create automated test cases, and expand test coverage.
- Utilize AI-assisted testing frameworks, GitHub Copilot, Bitbucket, and GitHub to develop and maintain automated test while improving test efficiency and coverage. Strong understanding of modern automation practices and source control tools to support software quality and continuous delivery.
- Develop and execute SQL queries to analyze, validate, manipulate, and troubleshoot data across multiple applications and environments.
- Work closely with developers, business analysts, and customers to clearly understand the functionality, identify testing requirements, and communicate testing progress, risks, and results effectively.
- Participate actively in team discussions and meetings to continuously improve testing strategies, quality processes, automation frameworks, and delivery timelines.
- Execute performance, load, and accessibility testing to validate application scalability, reliability, and compliance with accessibility standards.
The QA group supports and facilitates the implementation of all apps/projects in the Texas Education Agency.
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks using Playwright.
- Strong proficiency with GitHub Copilot, GitHub, and Bitbucket, with experience leveraging AI-assisted testing tools to enhance test automation efficiency, test case creation, and overall test coverage.
- Solid understanding of SQL, database testing, and data validation techniques.
- Experience using test management and defect tracking tools to support test planning, execution, and reporting.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Agile environment.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
7 years of:
- Testing complex Web Applications
- Testing all phases of Software Development Life Cycle
5 years of:
- Advanced Database/SQL Language
3 years of:
2 years of:
- Experience with WAPT Pro, Jmeter, or other performance testing tools
- Experience with Playwright or Selenium, GitHub Copilot and Bitbucket
Preferred:
5 years of:
- Experience testing reports
3 years of:
- Experience in API testing (SOAP and REST)
2 years of:
- Previous experience with Zephyr Scale preferred
- Previous experience with JIRA preferred
