Job Description
Important Note: Candidate MUST be a WI. Position is Hybrid within the state of WI. The first week will be fully onsite for training the first week and at minimum the candidate will be onsite once per quarter for training.
Project Details (project overview, who the contractor will work with, soft skills needed, etc.):
This position falls under IT Support but does NOT actually do any desktop remediation, updates, or support. It is focused on the identification and remediation of software vulnerabilities at the administration level. The Agency does not need the person to have any desktop support experience as this is more clerical with a technical understanding than it is break/fix.
· Assist with Vulnerability Management. This position will provide timely IT support to the Agency staff so they can more efficiently support critical the Agency initiatives.
· Assist with operational software updates/upgrades of desktop systems. The Agency tracks and maintains authorized software at supported levels.
· Assist with the alignment of installed software with current software standards and authorizations.
· This position is instrumental in getting a more cohesive patch and testing program in place for the Agency software. The Agency has an extremely complex environment for application management. This position is responsible for assessing and improving the related processes, especially where manual patches are required. The position works with other members of the desktop application maintenance team to assess, develop, and improve multiple processes, documenting accordingly. This position takes on tasks to enhance and streamline wherever it can. Where it can''t make changes, it must take initiative to document the status quo, noting gaps that will need to be addressed at some point.
· This position works with the Patching Technician to coordinate testing of any emerging patches and documenting identified vulnerabilities and known exploits. This position works with the Agency Patching Technician enhancing the process used to confirm that new patches have been appropriately installed and tested, prior to release to the wider Agency audience.
· This position tracks non-Ivanti software titles that are most prone to vulnerabilities and ensures that their websites are checked on a regular basis for alerts and updates. This allows the Agency to be responsive to threats as they arise.
· This position develops and collaborates with others regarding many process guidelines and procedural documents for maintaining and improving the Agency patching posture. This position applies the vulnerability management approach.
· This position intakes Federal software security notices and compares them to The Agency software titles to ensure that we are able to patch and / or mitigate identified vulnerabilities.
· This position reaches out to peers, both on their own team and on other teams, to better understand how to integrate the role with the efforts of other teams, thereby enhancing the security posture of the Agency.
· This position continually looks for ways to improve this extremely manual and tedious process so that more can be done. It continues to look for ways to improve that process and to track and manage more vulnerabilities.
Top Required Skills & Years of Experience:
· Experienced at tracking multiple tasks simultaneously (2+ years)
· Experienced at tracking effort through a ticket system. (2+ years)
· Experienced at vulnerability research (2+ years)
· Experience generating and interpreting reports (3+ years)
Nice to have skills:
· Experience with use of desktop tools such as Ivanti or SCCM.
· Experience navigating vulnerability notifications such as CISA and performing crosswalk comparisons.

· TEAMS virtual interview (video required) for initial interview. In-person interviews may decide the selected candidate.
Duration of the Contract:
· Through 06/30/26 with the possibility of extension.
