Automation Engineer

Location: Columbus, OH (Hybrid)

Employment Type: Contract

Duration: 18 months

Role Overview

In this role, you will consult on and contribute to complex software engineering initiatives. This position involves analyzing large-scale technical challenges and supporting a major technology transformation project. You will assist core team members in migrating manual processes to automated solutions to update legacy systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult on complex initiatives with broad impact and large-scale planning for Software Engineering.
  • Review and analyze complex, multi-faceted, or longer-term software engineering challenges.
  • Contribute to the resolution of complex situations requiring a solid understanding of function, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including analysts, testers, and operations, throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Analyze user and business requirements and translate them into technical design specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, bugs, and production incidents in a timely manner.
  • Support technology teams who are updating and adding automated features.
Required Qualifications

Experience: 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work or consulting experience, training, military experience, or education.

Technical Skills:
  • Hands-on experience with CA7 scheduler job automation, including independent debugging.
  • Extensive hands-on working experience with Hogan mainframe systems, specifically Hogan CIS, Hogan Umbrella, and Hogan Deposits.
  • Proficiency in creating JCLs and programming in COBOL.
  • Experience with REXX and SORT utilities.
  • Knowledge of DB2 and IMS.
  • Proficiency with SQL.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Information Technology project management experience or skills.
