Our client is seeking a Web Editor in Glen Allen, VA.
Role Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Web Editor to support the ongoing maintenance, optimization and editorial quality of our website(s). The contractor will be responsible for ensuring content is current, accessible, SEO-friendly and aligned with brand and regulatory standards, while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external agencies on enhancements and initiatives.
Website Maintenance and Content Management
Assist in updating and maintaining website content, design, and overall structure
Update web pages to ensure content is accurate, engaging, and current
Monitor, identify, and resolve technical errors, broken links, formatting issues, and bugs
Test website updates and new features prior to deployment to ensure functionality and compliance with regulatory requirements
Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies on website redesigns and enhancements
Manage and maintain the website change log, documenting updates, enhancements, fixes, and release dates to ensure transparency and traceability
Quality, Accessibility and Optimization
Employ SEO best practices to optimize content visibility and performance
Monitor ADA accessibility performance and implement updates to maintain WCAG 2.1 Level AA compliance
Ensure content adheres to brand standards, usability principles, and accessibility guidelines
Email Platform Support and Migration
Assist with migrating email content to a new marketing communications platform
Review, edit, and QA migrated email templates and content to ensure accuracy, formatting consistency, and brand alignment
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support testing and deployment of migrated email communications
Collaboration and Workflow
Work closely with writers, designers, developers, marketing teams, and agency partners
Manage multiple updates and priorities while meeting deadlines and contract deliverables
Skills & Requirements
3-5+ years of experience as a web editor, digital editor, or content specialist
Hands-on experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Kentico or similar)
Strong editing, proofreading, and QA skills for web content
Working knowledge of SEO best practices and web accessibility standards (ADA/WCAG)
Experience monitoring site health, troubleshooting issues and testing web updates
Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently as a contractor
Experience supporting large, complex or regulated websites
Familiarity with UX and information architecture best practices
Basic knowledge of analytics tools and performance monitoring
