Summary

Responsibilities:

  • Assess current applications in mainframe systems and identify modernization opportunities.
  • Define end-to-end migration strategy to modern cloud-native stack using: Java/Node.js for backend, React for frontend, AWS for cloud infrastructure
  • Break down monolithic components into microservices or serverless functions.
  • Define cloud architecture using AWS services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, RDS, S3, API Gateway).
  • Plan and oversee migration of legacy data to cloud-native databases (e.g., RDS, DynamoDB), MongoDB, PostgreSQL.
  • Design RESTful APIs and ensure smooth integration between frontend and backend.
  • Set up CI/CD pipelines and automate deployment process.
  • Define and enforce coding, security, and architectural standards.
  • Collaborate with developers, DevOps, testers, and product owners throughout the migration process.
  • Provide technical leadership, resolve architecture challenges, and guide implementation teams.
  • Consistently demonstrate a positive, professional, leadership attitude and frame of mind when working with and communicating with others.

Requirements:

  • 10 years of architectural and design experience.
  • Proficient in Agile, DevOps and cloud native software delivery methodologies.
  • Strong experience modernizing legacy applications to modern stacks.
  • Strong experience with AWS Cloud technologies, Microservices Architecture and Event Driven Architecture.
  • Solid expertise in Java, Node.js, React.js, and JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems.
  • Strong experience with AWS services such as Lambda, ECS / EC2, API Gateways, RDS/Aurora, Event Bridge, Secrets Manager, VPC, WAF.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools: Docker, Git, CI/CD, IaC (e.g., Terraform or CloudFormation).
  • Knowledge of microservices, REST APIs, and modern frontend/backend best practices.
  • Good grasp of application security, performance optimization, and cloud cost management.
  • Knowledge of data migration tools and patterns for mainframe-to-cloud transition.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to lead technical discussions. Effective communicator with both technical and business teams.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage a large Architect workload involving multiple projects, day-to-day tasks, meetings and ad-hoc technical requests.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
