Role Summary
The Principal / Director-Level Engineer – Private LTE (pLTE) at Trilogy NextGen is a senior individual contributor responsible for designing, deploying, and operationalizing private LTE networks for enterprise and industrial environments.
This role sits within Trilogy NextGen IT Services and focuses on transforming next-generation wireless connectivity into reliable, production-grade services that integrate seamlessly with customer IT and operational environments.
The position is hands-on, customer-facing, and execution-focused, providing deep technical leadership across network architecture, deployment, and performance optimization of private cellular infrastructure. The role owns technical outcomes but does not include direct people management responsibilities.
This individual serves as a technical authority for Trilogy NextGen’s most complex pLTE deployments, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, and capable of supporting mission-critical operations.
Key Responsibilities
Private LTE Architecture & Deployment
Design and deploy private LTE (pLTE) network architectures for enterprise and industrial customers, including RAN, core, SIM/device onboarding, and enterprise integration.
Define technical standards for coverage, capacity, spectrum utilization, QoS, resilience, and network security.
Lead network design and engineering activities including:
RF planning and propagation modeling
spectrum configuration
network performance optimization
validation and acceptance testing
Conduct site assessments and technical evaluations to ensure coverage and performance requirements are met.
Implement carrier-grade network monitoring and operational controls to support mission-critical environments.
Connectivity Strategy & Network Integration
Design connectivity strategies across private LTE, Wi-Fi, public cellular, and legacy radio systems where applicable.
Lead migration and coexistence strategies for customers transitioning from legacy wireless technologies.
Integrate private LTE networks with enterprise IT systems, identity services, security frameworks, and network infrastructure.
Ensure deployed solutions meet enterprise standards for:
security and compliance
network reliability
operational monitoring
lifecycle management.
IT Services Integration & Operationalization
Align all network deployments with Trilogy NextGen IT Services governance and operational frameworks.
Define reference architectures, deployment standards, and validation methodologies for repeatable delivery.
Partner with internal operations teams to ensure solutions are supportable, observable, and scalable in production environments.
Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues impacting deployed customer networks.
Customer Technical Leadership
Serve as the technical lead for strategic customer deployments, pilots, and proofs of concept involving private LTE.
Act as a trusted technical advisor to customer engineering, IT, and operational leadership teams.
Translate customer requirements into practical network architectures and deployment strategies.
Provide expert guidance during solution design, deployment, and operational optimization phases.
Cross-Functional Influence
Partner with product management and engineering teams to inform the evolution of Trilogy NextGen connectivity offerings.
Provide field insights from real-world deployments to influence architecture standards and product direction.
Contribute to internal technical knowledge sharing and best practices for enterprise private wireless networks.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience in wireless networking, cellular infrastructure, or telecom engineering.
Deep expertise in private LTE / private 5G architectures, including RAN, EPC/5 and SIM/device management.
Experience designing and deploying enterprise or industrial wireless networks.
Strong understanding of:
RF planning and wireless propagation
QoS and traffic prioritization
network security architectures
high-availability networking
Experience integrating wireless networks with enterprise IT infrastructure and operational environments.
Ability to lead complex deployments and technical customer engagements.
Preferred Experience
Experience deploying CBRS or shared spectrum private networks.
Familiarity with industrial, logistics, manufacturing, or mission-critical environments.
Experience working with carrier-grade cellular infrastructure vendors.
Knowledge of network automation, observability, and operational monitoring tools.
