Job Description
We are seeking a Data Center Technician (L3) to support high-performance computing (HPC) environments within a large-scale data center. This role is highly hands-on and focused on installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of enterprise-level hardware and infrastructure. The technician will play a critical role in ensuring uptime, performance, and operational efficiency across complex systems.
Day-to-day, you will be responsible for supporting data center operations, including hardware break/fix, cabling, asset tracking, and change management activities. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams, vendors, and on-site personnel to diagnose and resolve issues, deploy new equipment, and maintain accurate system documentation. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical depth who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and support HPC servers and related infrastructure
- Perform hardware troubleshooting and replace components such as drives, RAM, and motherboards
- Manage daily data center operations including inventory, receiving, and remote hands support
- Troubleshoot and resolve copper and fiber cabling issues
- Execute data center changes including rack/stack, server relocation, and network installations
- Install and dress cabling to meet high-quality presentation standards
- Support BIOS-level configurations and basic Linux system troubleshooting
- Coordinate with vendors to resolve complex hardware incidents
- Perform asset audits and deploy scripts as required
- Maintain accurate capacity and configuration management records
- Respond to and complete tasks through work order systems
- Escort visitors and ensure compliance with data center protocols
Required Experience/Skills
- Hands-on experience with enterprise servers (Supermicro, Dell, HPE)
- Strong troubleshooting skills in server, storage, and networking hardware
- Experience with InfiniBand fabric and Mellanox technologies
- Familiarity with Arista networking hardware
- Solid UNIX/Linux administration skills (Ubuntu or Red Hat)
- Experience with copper and fiber cabling installation and troubleshooting
- Understanding of data center infrastructure (power, cooling, structured cabling, resiliency)
- Ability to work independently and in team environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
- High attention to detail and operational discipline
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic office tools
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience working in high-performance computing (HPC) environments
- Exposure to large-scale data center operations
- Familiarity with automation or scripting in Linux environments
- Previous experience working with vendor support contracts
- Knowledge of asset management or CMDB systems
Education
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred (or equivalent hands-on experience)

Shift Options (4x10 Schedule):
- Sunday–Wednesday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Wednesday–Saturday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Training Period:
- First 30 days: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
