Data Architect

Location: Washington, DC / Chicago, IL / Denver, CO (On-site)

Employment Type: Contract

Duration: 6 months

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect with a strong focus on cybersecurity. This role is responsible for the execution of data architectural solutions for complex initiatives. The position involves designing secure and scalable architecture to safeguard critical information assets and working with stakeholders to ensure adherence to enterprise data management policies and standards. This role requires the ability to facilitate solution-driven discussions and support architecture design reviews.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement secure and scalable data architecture solutions.
  • Facilitate discussions with stakeholders to support adherence to enterprise data management policy and standards.
  • Support architecture design reviews to ensure integration of data architecture principles in technology solutions.
  • Educate data management teams on enterprise data architectural principles and processes.
  • Implement monitoring and logging strategies for both structured and unstructured data in a big data environment.
  • Develop and manage relational and dimensional data models and metadata.
  • Architect solutions independently, lead code reviews, and ensure quality throughout project lifecycles.
  • Work within an Agile team and utilize Agile SDLC tools for project execution.
Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Data Architect or in a similar role with a focus on designing and implementing complex data architecture is necessary. This includes 5-10 years of experience in relational and dimensional data modeling and metadata management. Experience with Data Quality measurements, scorecards, control, and remediation is also required.

Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
  • Hands-on experience with data fabric technology (e.g., Starburst).
  • Working knowledge of the Open Cybersecurity Schema Framework (OCSF).
  • Proficiency with data modeling tools (e.g., SAP PowerDesigner, Erwin Data Modeler), and ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, SSIS, Alteryx).
  • Expertise in relational and NoSQL database systems, with strong SQL and Python skills.
  • Experience with data platforms including Hadoop, Spark, Oracle, SQL Server, and Teradata.
  • Understanding of real-time, batch, and event-based data provisioning patterns.
  • Proficiency with communication and presentation tools such as Visio and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Common Information Models (CIMs) and ServiceNow.
  • Fluency in hybrid data mesh and data fabric concepts (Starburst/Trino).
  • Experience with lakehouse foundations, event streaming, vector search, and LLMOps integration.
  • Understanding of AI governance standards and Zero Trust data architecture.
  • Familiarity with Data Build Tool (dbt).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, audit, and regulatory concerns.
  • Industry certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or TOGAF.
Compensation & Benefits

Pay Rate: $65.00/hr - $70.00/hr. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, and location.
