Role Overview
In this contingent resource assignment, the Systems Operations Engineer will consult on or participate in moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within Systems Operations Engineering, contributing to large-scale planning and operational readiness. The role requires reviewing and analyzing operational challenges that demand in-depth evaluation of variable technical and business factors. The engineer will contribute to resolving operational issues through an understanding of systems operations practices, enterprise policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide production and application support for enterprise systems supporting Corporate Properties, Supply Chain Management, Corporate Security, and other functions.
- Lead and participate in incident, problem, and change management activities.
- Perform monitoring, triage, root cause analysis, and coordination of major and minor incidents.
- Support business continuity planning exercises, operational readiness, and reliability initiatives.
- Troubleshoot application issues across distributed systems and databases.
- Work with Autosys scheduling and Oracle databases to resolve operational dependencies.
- Support applications running on Kubernetes, OpenShift, and/or Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
- Collaborate with platform teams and operate adjacent to a growing Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) utility.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, including weekend or late-shift support approximately every 4-5 weeks.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 4+ years of Systems Engineering or Technology Architecture experience, supporting moderately complex systems operations and application environments.
Technical Skills: 2+ years of hands-on experience with Autosys and Oracle (preferably Oracle PL/SQL or database engineering). Experience supporting applications in containerized or cloud environments (Kubernetes, OpenShift, and/or Google Cloud Platform), with production support skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, ThousandEyes, and Aternity.
- Background in financial or banking environments.
- Eligibility for full-time conversion.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $46.00 and $49.00 per hour. This is an 18-month contract assignment with the possibility of extension.
