Automation Engineer | Mason, MI

Salary Range: $85,000 - $130,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Mason seeking Automation Engineers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes.
  • Program PLCs, HMIs, and industrial robots for new and existing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation system issues, minimizing downtime.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify automation opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for automation systems and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements for all automated systems.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, robotics, or control systems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in programming PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell), HMIs, and SCADA systems.
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus).
  • Experience with robotic systems (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, ABB) including programming, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and optimize automated manufacturing processes.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence) for quality inspection and guidance.
  • Familiarity with data acquisition and analysis platforms (e.g., Ignition SCADA, MES systems).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and mentor junior engineers or technicians on new automation systems.
