Job Summary:
The Instructional Design Consultant (IDC) is a key contributor within the Education Services team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining innovative learning solutions that support product education for high-tech medication management systems.
This role acts as a strategic partner to internal stakeholders, aligning training solutions with business objectives and performance needs. The IDC supports both internal associates and external customers by delivering high-quality, scalable learning experiences.
Responsibilities:
Organizational Alignment
- Support strategic initiatives across Professional Services, Technical Services, and customer training programs
- Collaborate with Marketing, R&D, Readiness, Implementation, and Global Customer Service (GCS) leadership to align training with business strategy
- Prioritize individual and team objectives in a fast-paced, multi-demand environment
Instructional Design & eLearning Development
- Design, develop, and implement learning solutions including:
- Web-based training modules
- Technical training videos
- Job aids and user guides
- Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
- Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to create effective training content
- Utilize eLearning authoring tools to produce engaging learning materials
- Incorporate user experience (UX) and responsive design principles
- Apply agile and iterative development methodologies
- Collaborate with instructors (Education LPCs) to ensure alignment of deliverables
Learning & Performance Consulting
- Assess learning and performance gaps to develop targeted training solutions
- Partner with business leaders, R&D, Marketing, and customer-facing teams to deliver measurable results
- Support the development and delivery of high-quality performance solutions
- Resolve issues independently or escalate when necessary using a solution-oriented approach
- Collaborate across global teams, cultures, and time zones
Project Management
- Manage learning projects, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and reporting accuracy
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans
- Monitor progress and report on team metrics and project status
- Stay current on assigned product(s) and plan for upcoming releases
- Manage curriculum development and learning paths for assigned products
- Balance multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
Business Relationships & Communication
- Support cross-functional strategic initiatives
- Develop and manage communications via SharePoint, email, forums, and other platforms
- Operate effectively within a matrixed organization
- Adapt to evolving business strategies
- Perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of instructional design methodologies, cognitive science, and adult learning principles
- Ability to develop effective learning solutions based on needs assessments
- Proficiency in agile and iterative development approaches
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present clearly and persuasively
- Ability to quickly learn new systems, products, and technologies
- High adaptability and comfort working in a dynamic environment
Education & Experience
- Bachelor s degree in education, Communication, or related field (required)
- Master s degree in Instructional Design, Education Technology, Performance Improvement, Adult Education, Interactive Media, or Learning Systems (preferred)
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in instructional design or learning solutions (required)
- Experience developing:
- eLearning modules
- Technical training videos (including scripting, production, and editing)
- Documentation and presentations within a Learning Management System (LMS)
Technical Skills
- Experience with eLearning tools such as:
- Articulate Storyline
- Articulate Rise
- Camtasia
- Captivate
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in customer support organizations or medical device environments
- Experience with global product implementation and support
