Automation Engineer | Cadillac, MI

Salary Range: $78,000 - $123,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We collaborate with manufacturing companies in the Cadillac region seeking Automation Engineers. These employers partner with us because they want real insight into candidates-not just resumes. By joining our network, you gain access to roles worth considering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions for manufacturing processes.
  • Program PLCs, HMIs, and industrial robots for new and existing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation system issues, including electrical, mechanical, and software problems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (production, maintenance, engineering) to identify automation opportunities and improve process efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and operating procedures.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for automation-related downtime and implement corrective actions.
  • Stay current with emerging automation technologies and recommend their application where appropriate.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, robotics, or control systems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in programming PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi) and industrial robots (e.g., KUKA, FANUC, ABB).
  • Strong understanding of sensor technologies, vision systems, and industrial networking protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET).
  • Experience with SCADA and HMI development for process visualization and control.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex automation system issues.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence).
  • Familiarity with ISA-88 batch control standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automation projects.
  • Experience with robotic simulation software (e.g., RoboDK, Process Simulate).
