Description
We are looking for a skilled Mainframe Systems Programmer to join our team. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining both purchased and custom application solutions utilizing advanced iSeries technologies, including DB2/400 and RPG/400. As part of this long-term contract position, you will collaborate with IT developers, contract programmers, and customers to deliver innovative solutions that meet business needs.
Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and implement application solutions using iSeries technologies such as DB2/400, CL/400, and RPG/400.
Apply business knowledge to develop and support individual software components, ensuring they align with functional requirements.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to plan, analyze, and execute detailed designs for applications.
Conduct testing, review, and implementation of computer and business applications to ensure functionality and reliability.
Create and maintain technical documentation for application components following established lifecycle methodologies.
Manage and coordinate physical changes to databases, leveraging expertise in database management systems.
Independently handle development tasks while providing support and enhancements to deployed applications.
Offer training and guidance to other IT developers on newly developed systems.
Lead projects that interface with vendors and customers, ensuring effective communication and delivery of solutions.
Requirements
A minimum of 8 years of programming experience.
At least 6 years of experience working with iSeries technologies, including RPG/400 and CL.
Proficiency in designing and managing DB2/400 databases.
Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse team environments.
Excellent communication skills for engaging with internal and external customers.
Experience in interpreting business requirements and translating them into functional application solutions.
Familiarity with lifecycle methodologies and technical documentation practices.
Preferred experience with service business support using iSeries technologies.
