Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, SQL-focused developer and analyst who is proficient in building reliable data solutions. This role involves writing and optimizing SQL, creating repeatable data validation checks, and delivering trusted datasets for reporting and visualization. The ideal candidate will partner with internal users to clarify requirements, define data sources, and translate business needs into verifiable data logic.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain SQL queries, views, and datasets to support reporting and operational use cases.
- Write and optimize SQL in PostgreSQL or similar platforms, including multi-table joins, aggregations, and window functions.
- Build repeatable data quality checks for issues like duplicates, missing keys, and invalid values, and document remediation.
- Support database updates and controlled data fixes with traceability, including change logs and validation steps.
- Create reporting outputs and visualizations using tools like Excel or Power BI, ensuring results are verifiable.
- Translate stakeholder requests into clear definitions, requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Maintain documentation for data definitions, mappings, refresh logic, and audit results.
- Contribute to process improvements around data governance and consistent metric definitions.
Required Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required.
Experience: This position requires 6-10 years of experience in application development, cloud computing, and enterprise software architecture. Candidates must have demonstrated experience in debugging data issues and building repeatable data audits.
Technical Skills: Strong SQL experience, preferably with PostgreSQL, is required. A solid understanding of relational database fundamentals, including keys, constraints, and data integrity, is necessary. Proficiency with Excel for data validation and reporting is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience writing scripts for data automation, preferably in Python.
- Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Grafana.
- Knowledge of AWS services like RDS Postgres, S3, Athena, or Glue.
- Experience in an engineering or asset-heavy industrial domain.
- Familiarity with time-series data concepts and tools like AVEVA PI / PI Vision.
- Experience with asset management systems such as IBM Maximo.
- Proficiency with database tools like DBeaver and query performance tuning.
- Certifications in AWS, Microsoft Power BI, or project management methodologies like PMP or Agile.
Compensation & Benefits
The anticipated pay range for this position is $50.00 to $53.96 per hour. Please note that a comprehensive benefits package is available for our employees.
