About the role
We are looking for a practitioner not an advisor. You will be expected to lead, configure, and deliver independently from day one.
We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow ITAM/CMDB consultant to lead a cross-functional initiative to improve the accuracy and completeness of our IT Asset Management records. The right candidate will take full ownership of the project driving assessment, remediation, and stakeholder alignment while demonstrating hands-on ServiceNow expertise in every engagement.
What you'll own
Lead the end-to-end ITAM/CMDB data quality initiative as the primary driver not a support resource
Includes Desktop (Physical/Virtual), Servers (Physical/Virtual), Network Equipment, and all tracked IT assets
Conduct an initial assessment of CMDB and Asset data gaps, inconsistencies, and quality issues; produce a written findings report within the first three to four weeks
Develop and execute a remediation roadmap covering processes, data sources, tools, and integrations
Partner with Infrastructure, Network, Security, Procurement, and Support teams to validate asset ownership, lifecycle status, and configuration accuracy
Configure and tune Discovery probes/patterns and MID Server settings directly hands-on
Manage Identification & Reconciliation (IReconciler) rules to resolve conflicts and improve data fidelity
Deliver structured weekly status updates to leadership; proactively flag risks before they become blockers
Produce clear documentation at each project milestone without requiring follow-up requests
Required skills & experience
5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow experience with a strong focus on CMDB, Discovery, MID Servers, and Asset Management

Proven ability to configure ServiceNow independently you can screen-share and build, not just consult

Strong analytical skills with Excel (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data validation)

Able to independently lead technical troubleshooting and drive decisions; engages client resources for access and context, not for direction

Track record of delivering documentation and project artifacts on agreed timelines

Experience with IReconciler rules and conflict resolution logic
Experience with complementary asset management tools: Intune, Kaseya, and/or Flexera is a strong plus

Engagement structure:
Project-based contract
CMDB/ITAM data quality remediation. Defined scope, defined deliverables, immediate start. Duration will be determined based on initial assessment findings and remediation roadmap.
