Position OverviewThe ID Badge Specialist supports the Public Safety IT Card Services team by administering identity and access credentials across assigned Johns Hopkins University and Medicine locations. This role is highly customer-facing and requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. Candidates should be comfortable working with diverse populations and, when assigned to clinical settings, operating within patient-care environments.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a primary point of contact for badge-related inquiries, delivering high-quality customer service.
- Produce and issue ID badges and related credentialing cards using specialized software, printers, and imaging equipment.
- Process badge requests through both online workflows and in-person service channels.
- Distribute identification credentials for faculty, staff, students, contractors, and vendors across multiple Johns Hopkins entities.
- Support large-scale or high-volume badge production initiatives, including planning and execution.
- Maintain compliance with enterprise-wide identity management policies, procedures, and security standards.
- Monitor and respond to customer requests via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
- Track inventory of supplies, consumables, and equipment; ensure all devices remain operational.
- Maintain daily and weekly operational metrics to support quality assurance and process improvement.
- Communicate trends, issues, and operational updates to management.
- Collaborate regularly with internal stakeholders across academic, medical, and administrative units.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support Card Services operations.
Required Qualifications- Demonstrated experience in administrative support, customer service, or service-desk environments.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficient keyboarding and strong command of spelling, grammar, and written communication.
- High competency with computers, office equipment, and business applications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe tools, and intranet-based content or workflow systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across diverse professional, cultural, and academic environments.
- Ability to work standard business hours (Monday-Friday) with flexibility for occasional early mornings or late evenings to support special projects.
- Willingness to travel between multiple Johns Hopkins locations within Baltimore City and Baltimore County as needed.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)- Familiarity with end-user applications and identity-management technologies (e.g., proximity cards, smart cards, card readers).
- Experience with badge printers, digital imaging equipment, and related card-production hardware.
- Comfort working in clinical or patient-care environments.
