Metrology Technician | Spring Lake, MI

Salary Range: $56,000 - $83,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration and preventative maintenance on metrology equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair measurement equipment and instruments.
  • Develop and optimize measurement processes and procedures.
  • Analyze measurement data and generate reports to ensure quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve measurement-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of calibration activities and equipment performance.
  • Provide training and technical support to colleagues on metrology best practices.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Metrology, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing metrology role.
  • Proficient in using a wide range of precision measurement tools (e.g., CMM, optical comparators, calipers, micrometers).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with calibration processes and maintaining measurement equipment.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and their application.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly with precision machining or assembly processes.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis techniques.
  • Ability to interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
