Metrology Technician | Grand Haven, MI

Salary Range: $55,000 - $82,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are partnering with organizations in Grand Haven that are seeking Metrology Technicians. These companies are committed to building strong teams and are looking for professionals who can lead initiatives effectively. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform calibration and preventative maintenance on metrology equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair measurement equipment and systems.
  • Develop and validate new measurement methods and procedures.
  • Analyze measurement data and generate reports to support quality control and engineering.
  • Maintain calibration records and ensure traceability to national standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production to resolve measurement-related issues.
  • Provide technical support and training to other technicians and operators on measurement techniques.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Metrology, Quality Assurance, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing metrology lab or quality control environment.
  • Proficiency with a variety of precision measuring instruments (e.g., CMM, optical comparators, micrometers, calipers, gauge blocks).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience with calibration processes and maintaining measurement equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic statistical analysis of measurement data.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with automated metrology equipment (e.g., automated CMMs, optical scanners with robotic integration).
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and its application in manufacturing metrology.
  • Certification in metrology (e.g., CMS, CMQ/OE from ASQ, or similar industry-recognized credentials).
  • Proficiency in programming metrology equipment using specialized software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS).
  • Demonstrated ability to train junior technicians on metrology equipment and best practices.
