Metrology Technician | Lansing, MI

Salary Range: $55,000 - $82,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Lansing seeking Metrology Technicians who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspections of manufactured parts and tooling using various metrology equipment.
  • Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot precision measuring instruments and equipment.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and specifications to determine measurement requirements.
  • Document inspection results accurately and generate reports, identifying non-conformances.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve measurement-related issues and improve product quality.
  • Develop and implement measurement procedures and work instructions.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for measurement discrepancies and quality issues.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Metrology, Quality Assurance, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, performing metrology tasks.
  • Proficient in the use of various measurement tools and equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators, calipers, micrometers).
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application in measurement and inspection.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Experience with calibration procedures and maintaining calibration records.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and their application.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis techniques.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.
