About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineering Consultant to support technology innovation initiatives within a large enterprise banking environment. This role will work within an Innovation Lab that provides a secure, isolated environment where business and technology teams can evaluate, test, and validate emerging technologies, proof-of-concepts, and new platform capabilities.

The ideal candidate is a technology generalist with a strong infrastructure engineering foundation, a passion for innovation, and the ability to work across a wide variety of technologies and business use cases. You will help project teams assess new solutions, troubleshoot technical challenges, and enable successful technology evaluations while collaborating with infrastructure, architecture, and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with project teams, architects, and project managers to translate technology evaluation requirements into lab solutions and capabilities.
  • Advise stakeholders on lab services, supported technologies, platform limitations, and best practices.
  • Support technology assessments, proofs of concept, and innovation initiatives across multiple lines of business.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and platform issues related to:
    • Operating systems
    • End-user computing platforms
    • Cloud services
    • Networking and connectivity
    • Identity and access management
    • Proxy services
    • Platform integrations and compatibility
  • Administer and support environments including:
    • Windows
    • macOS
    • Linux
    • iOS
    • Android
    • VMware
    • Hyper-V
    • Kubernetes
    • Microsoft Azure
    • Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform)
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and operational processes using PowerShell, Bash, Terraform, or similar tools.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge articles, operating procedures, and service standards.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on platform enhancements, lifecycle management initiatives, and new service offerings.
  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical engineering teams, translating requirements and recommending solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and support technical proof-of-concept activities in a secure lab environment.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Systems Administration, Lab Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong customer-facing experience supporting engineering teams, project teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting enterprise environments across on-premises, cloud, SaaS, and end-user computing platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Infrastructure engineering
    • Virtualization technologies
    • Networking
    • Storage
    • Compute platforms
    • Identity and access management
    • Security technologies
  • Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, Kubernetes, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues across diverse infrastructure environments.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting innovation labs, sandbox environments, proof-of-concept programs, or pre-production testing platforms.
  • Exposure to AI/ML technologies, enterprise SaaS platforms, and emerging technology initiatives.
  • Experience with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
  • Multi-cloud experience across Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and other cloud platforms.
  • Experience supporting enterprise networking, endpoint management, secure connectivity, and access management solutions.
  • Experience working with vendors, architects, engineering teams, and business stakeholders to evaluate and operationalize new technologies.
  • Industry certifications related to cloud, infrastructure, virtualization, security, or endpoint management are a plus.
Desired Characteristics
  • Passion for technology and innovation.
  • Naturally curious and eager to learn emerging technologies.
  • Broad technical knowledge across multiple disciplines rather than deep expertise in a single area.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting mindset.
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
