Automation Engineer | Grand Haven, MI

Salary Range: $81,000 - $126,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Grand Haven that are seeking skilled Automation Engineers. These organizations are dedicated to maintaining high standards and are looking for professionals who can contribute effectively. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automated manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing automation systems.
  • Develop and maintain PLC and HMI programs.
  • Collaborate with production teams to identify automation opportunities.
  • Perform root cause analysis for automation-related issues.
  • Select, configure, and integrate robotic systems and vision systems.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, robotics, or control systems within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley) and HMI/SCADA development.
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus).
  • Experience with vision systems, sensors, and other automation hardware.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with Industry 4.0 technologies (e.g., AI/ML, digital twins) in a manufacturing context.
  • Certifications in relevant automation platforms (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and how automation supports them.
