Job Title: Sales / Account Manager, IT Staffing & PMO Services (Public Sector)

City, State:  CT, NY, MA, or FL to support in person relationships building within your territory, inclusive of client meetings, events, etc.  Remote first role with ability to travel for prospect meetings and occasional VLink gatherings in CT (retreats or key planning sessions).

Role: Sales / Account Manager, IT Staffing & PMO Services (Public Sector)

The Sales / Account Manager is responsible for winning new public sector clients, managing and growing existing accounts, and expanding the firm’s IT Staffing and Project/Program Management Office (PMO) services across one or a combination of the following territories: Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and Florida. This role requires a consultative sales approach, strong relationship‑building with state agency leaders and decisionmakers, as well as experience navigating public sector procurement environments.

The ideal candidate has a proven track record selling professional services, particularly IT staffing, consulting, or PMO services, to state, municipal, education, or quasi‑government entities, and is comfortable owning the full account lifecycle from prospecting through delivery expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & New Client Acquisition

  • Identify, prospect, and secure new public sector clients within assigned territories (CT, MA, NY, FL)
  • Develop a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities through networking, referrals, outreach, and participation in public sector events
  • Position IT staffing, staff augmentation, project management, and PMO services as solutions to client business and technology challenges
  • Lead and coordinate responses to RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, and other public sector solicitations in collaboration with internal teams
  • Build credibility with key decisionmakers, influencers, and procurement stakeholders
  • Account Management & Client Relationships
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned client accounts
  • Establish trusted advisor relationships with client leadership, procurement teams, and program managers
  • Ensure high levels of client satisfaction through proactive communication, issue resolution, and service quality oversight
  • Partner with recruiting, delivery, and operations teams to ensure successful fulfilment and ongoing performance

Account Growth & Service Expansion

  • Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts through additional staffing needs, new programs, or expanded PMO services
  • Cross sell and upsell complementary services based on evolving client needs and long-term initiatives
  • Develop strategic account plans to drive revenue growth and deepen client engagement
  • Monitor contract performance, renewals, extensions, and upcoming procurement opportunities
  • Market & Territory Management
  • Build and maintain knowledge of public sector trends, budgeting cycles, and regulatory requirements in assigned states
  • Track competitor activity and market dynamics to inform sales strategy
  • Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline reporting, and CRM documentation

Key Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of experience in sales and/or account management within IT staffing, IT consulting, professional services, or PMO services
  • Demonstrated success selling to public sector clients (state, local, municipal, education, or government adjacent organizations)
  • Experience with public sector procurement processes (RFPs, RFQs, master contracts, vendor lists)
  • Strong relationship building, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and sales pursuits simultaneously
  • Willingness to travel within assigned territories as needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing relationships within public sector agencies in CT, MA, NY, and/or FL
  • Experience selling PMO, program management, or large-scale IT initiatives
  • Experience working in or navigating state agencies
  • Familiarity with state and municipal contracting vehicles and staffing frameworks
  • Background working within or alongside government organizations

 

Experience:  

  • 5+ years of experience in sales and/or account management within IT staffing, IT consulting, professional services, or PMO services.

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Communications, IT, or related field as preferred.

Years of Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience

Expected Travel: 10 - 20% travel within assigned territory for client meetings, networking, and relationship development. Occasionally travel to Connecticut or other states for team meetings, planning sessions, company events, or conferences.

Additional Information:

  • Working hours:  9 am – 6 pm EST with flexibility as needed to support client and business needs
