Metrology Technician | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $54,000 - $81,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Wayland seeking Metrology Technicians who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform precision measurements using CMMs, optical comparators, and various hand tools.
  • Calibrate and maintain measurement equipment according to established procedures.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T specifications, and manufacturing process sheets.
  • Document measurement results accurately and generate detailed inspection reports.
  • Troubleshoot measurement discrepancies and assist with root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Develop and optimize measurement methods and fixturing for new products.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Metrology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in metrology or quality control within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in operating and programming CMMs, optical comparators, and other precision measurement equipment.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application in inspection and measurement.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Experience with calibration procedures and maintaining measurement traceability.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles and applications.
  • Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC) software and data analysis.
  • Experience with calibration and maintenance of metrology equipment.
