Work Model: Hybrid - 3 days onsite weekly (8-hour onsite days required)
Contract: 12-24 months Strong potential to convert to full-time (replacing a senior permanent SM)
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Scrum Master to support CTO-level initiatives within our Data Lake and Data Warehouse platforms. This role supports three data platform teams focused on modernizing more than 300 applications, driving automation, and transitioning teams from Kanban to full Scrum/Jira best practices.

You will partner closely with Product Owners and database engineering teams, ensuring disciplined Jira usage, quality tracking, and consistent Agile adoption. This position requires strong Agile coaching, hands-on Jira expertise, and the ability to guide teams through modernization efforts in a complex data environment.
Key Responsibilities
Agile & Scrum Leadership
  • Coach 1-3 cross-functional teams on Agile and Scrum frameworks, promoting continuous improvement.
  • Facilitate core ceremonies: sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives.
  • Reinforce Agile values, Scrum principles, and adherence to team definitions of done.
  • Remove impediments and shield teams from external distractions.
Project & Delivery Management
  • Apply project-management discipline to support sprint planning, release coordination, and milestone tracking.
  • Identify and manage delivery risks, dependencies, and cross-team impacts.
  • Provide clear progress reporting and communicate issues to leadership and stakeholders.
Product Owner & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Partner with Product Owners to maintain a healthy backlog aligned to business value.
  • Support translation of business needs into high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate communication across engineering, product, and business teams.
  • Escalate risks effectively and drive timely resolution.
Metrics, Coaching & Continuous Improvement
  • Leverage Agile metrics (velocity, predictability, flow, throughput) to assess team performance.
  • Coach teams on interpreting data to drive meaningful improvements-not vanity metrics.
  • Lead retrospective discussions that produce measurable action plans.
  • Foster collaboration, transparency, and knowledge sharing across teams.
Scaling & Governance
  • Support coordination across multiple teams and scaled Agile environments.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise governance, compliance, and reporting expectations.
  • Maintain Agile artifacts and ensure teams are represented accurately in enterprise tools (e.g., Jira).
Required Qualifications
Experience
  • 5+ years working in Agile delivery environments.
  • 4+ years as a hands-on Scrum Master.
  • Background in project management, program management, or delivery leadership.
  • Experience supporting technical or data-focused teams in matrixed organizations.
  • Strong Jira expertise, including coaching and enforcing best practices.
  • Database knowledge: SQL Server, Oracle, large datasets.
Agile & Project Management Skills
  • Deep understanding of Scrum, Agile principles, and servant leadership.
  • Ability to manage scope, schedule, risks, and cross-team dependencies.
  • Skilled in facilitating collaborative problem-solving.
  • Strong competency in data-driven Agile metrics.
Communication & Leadership
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, communication, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Ability to influence without authority across cross-functional teams.
  • Effective communicator with senior leadership and technical teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), or similar.
  • PMP or equivalent project-management certification.
  • Experience with scaled Agile frameworks (SAFe, LeSS, Nexus).
  • Experience in regulated or highly governed enterprise environments.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, IT, Engineering, or related field-or equivalent experience.
Work Location Requirements
  • Hybrid schedule required.
  • Must work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week at the assigned office.
  • Onsite presence required for collaboration with delivery teams and stakeholders.
