Automation Engineer | Fremont, MI

Salary Range: $82,000 - $127,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We collaborate with manufacturing companies in the Fremont region seeking Automation Engineers. These employers partner with us because they want real insight into candidates-not just resumes. By joining our network, you gain access to roles worth considering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy automation solutions for manufacturing processes.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing automation systems to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and define project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for automation systems, including schematics, software code, and operational procedures.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of automation-related issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support and training to production and maintenance teams on automation systems.
  • Research and evaluate new automation technologies and industry best practices.

Recommended Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial automation, control systems, or robotics within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell, Mitsubishi) and HMI/SCADA development.
  • Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., OPC UA, Modbus TCP/IP, EtherNet/IP).
  • Experience with vision systems, robotics (e.g., FANUC, KUKA, Universal Robots), or other advanced automation technologies.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with Ignition SCADA or similar HMI/SCADA platforms.
  • Familiarity with ISA-88 and other industry standards for batch control.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and mentor junior engineers or technicians.
  • Experience with vision systems (e.g., Keyence, Cognex) for quality control or guidance.
  • PLC programming experience with Rockwell Automation (Studio 5000) or Siemens (TIA Portal).
