Help Desk Technician | Rockford, MI

Salary Range: $48,000 - $75,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We collaborate with manufacturing companies in the Rockford region seeking Help Desk Technicians. These employers partner with us because they want real insight into candidates-not just resumes. By joining our network, you gain access to roles worth considering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing software and hardware.
  • Resolve IT issues related to production machinery, PLCs, and SCADA systems.
  • Document and track all help desk requests and resolutions within a ticketing system.
  • Perform routine maintenance and upgrades on manufacturing-specific IT equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize system performance and reliability.
  • Assist with the deployment and configuration of new technology in manufacturing environments.

Recommended Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in IT support or help desk roles, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot hardware (e.g., PLCs, HMIs, industrial PCs) and software issues common in manufacturing settings.
  • Strong understanding of network protocols and infrastructure, with experience supporting industrial networks (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profinet).
  • Experience with IT service management (ITSM) tools for incident tracking, problem management, and change management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues to non-technical staff.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on problem-solving and customer service.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) in a manufacturing context.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems (e.g., PLCs, SCADA).
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and terminology.
  • Experience supporting specialized manufacturing software (e.g., MES, CMMS).
  • Certifications in relevant manufacturing IT systems or methodologies.
